Believe it or not, some people have resorted to tasers as a form of self defense. In some states they are considered illegal, however, tasers have definitely proven effective. If you are the target of an attack and own a taser, its a lot easier not to become a victim if you use it on your attacker. There’s nothing wrong about self defense. What do authorities expect you to do? If you have children with you or even if you are alone, that shouldn’t give someone the right to attack you without the response of you fighting back in self defense. While tasers aren’t legal in every state you can find out. And unfortunately, some people have grown so worried about being attacked, they obtain a taser and carry it anyway. Even if it is illegal in the state where they are living. Police officers are allowed to use them in threatening situations, so if you are the victim of a threatening or violent situation, do you not have the same right of self defense to use one?

If the primary objective is to use the taser for self defense then it is not abusive to sue? People only want to feel safe. And knowing self defense, and options for a way out if you are attacked is a natural emotion. People know that society does not expect the citizens to stand helpless without any defense. How traumatizing this can be.

If an attacker sees that you have a Taser, they are more than likely to not pursue you in a criminal situation. Naturally the easiest thing to do would just give up your purse or wallet, however what if that’s not what the attack was all about? Many attackers will think twice about attacking you if you have a taser and seem to know self defense. Literally. There are many ways to handle the taser. Some trainers have advocated the use of flipping the instrument to your other hand.

There are many ways of using the taser. If your attacker has you bent over, and the attacker is behind you, you can learn how to go between your legs through self defense techniques and movements and use the taser on the attacker that way. There are many variations that can be used with the taser. But the possibilities get very limited if you don’t know about self defense or how to even use a taser.

You also have to have the taser to learn how to actually use it the right way as well. However, tasers are usually any where from thirty to fifty dollars, and they run on nine volt batteries. Most tasers even have a safety feature on them. We recommend that you research the effectiveness of the taser.

One of the most vulnerable states of a person is when he is walking in the streets, and is most utilized by the bullies and the criminals to attack or rob you. Hence we have carefully picked this article and published over internet for your knowledge and safety. Let’s discuss some of the security measurements that you can take while walking in the streets.

When you are walking in the streets the key factor of your self defense is “awareness”. Awareness is described as the way you walk and the way you alert your mind. You should be aware when walking and walk fast with a purposeful mind that you have a definite destination. Keep checking behind you more occasionally (not too frequently though -that people might start doubting you instead

While walking on streets one of the most common and usual way of attack is from your back (i.e. from behind you). Make others feel that it won’t be a surprise to you if someone attacks you from behind so that amongst them attacker is also fully aware of this fact.

Cell phones and music players can sometimes be your own enemies instead of being a part-time entertainer. While walking on the street it is prohibited for your best that you shouldn’t attend any non-urgent/unimportant phone calls.

Be careful while roaming between a heavy or moderate traffic. Most criminals attack from within the traffic, for example; when you are roaming between the traffic they might be in one of the car either parked or part of the traffic -they can suddenly stop very nearby you and abduct you in the blink of eyes.

Always be on the safer side –keep a distance from parked cars and those people who idle around the corner of streets starring at people. They are often bullies and might hurt you if you are victimized by them. So folks! Stay safe stay clever –cheers

We are all hearing more and more about tasers as a self-defense weapon these days. There is a lot of information swirling around and it is difficult to determine what is accurate and what it not.

Here are some accurate facts. Tasers are powerful, yet non-lethal self-defense weapons. They work by interrupting the function of muscles and nerves through a powerful current. They can be deployed from up to 15 feet away from an attacker and they will render the attacker incapacitated because of overriding the neuro- muscular system in the body. The attacker will stay incapacitated long enough for you to get away to safety and call for help.

A growing number of people are choosing the non-lethal tasers over buying a gun, which, too many times is a lethal weapon. Most people don’t necessarily want to kill an attacker; they simply want to get away from the attacker and let the police arrest and deal with the situation.

There are conflicting reports as to whether tasers are lethal or not. An article from the National Post on May 7, 2008 stated that this issue was taken to court and the court ruled that there was no evidence that tasers were the cause of death or in any way a contributing factor in the deaths of at least 68 individuals that were involved in crimes. In each of these situations, a medical condition or other situation was determined to be the cause of death.

This is very important information, because there have been numerous times when the blame has been erroneously placed on the weapon. Of course, it is extremely important to get accurate information and training with any weapon so there is no unnecessary injury to yourself or others.

As a young girl in a bad neighborhood, my parents thought I should learn some self-defense methods. A man who lived down the street volunteered to teach me, but he said I was too small for normal methods. The techniques I learned where developed at age 13 when I was a whopping 4 foot 6 inches tall and 75 pounds. What he taught me helped me survive several situations where men much bigger than me attacked. I hope it helps you too.

I like to call it “Stun and Run,” others call it “Bash and Dash.” Whatever you call it, it works the same. You strike the opponent one time to give you enough time to run away. My instructor thought this would be all I was capable of doing. Whether I could do more or not doesn’t matter. It has served me well.

I never go for the groin. Men expect this, and it does not drop every man. I choose a more stunning place. I cannot say over the Internet my choices, as they are very dangerous and should only be used under the guidance of a trained martial arts teacher. Some self-defense techniques are just too dangerous to use in any situation other than life threatening.

However, there are a few non-life threatening techniques I can share. First, box the ears. This works as a good stunning device. If you are tall enough, this causes dizziness and disorientation for a few seconds, just long enough for you to run away.

Second, kick the knee. This can break the knee or at least drop your attacker for a second. Kicking with your shin works better than kicking with your toes. This is effective no matter how tall you are.

Third, is the reverse head butt. This works particularly well for short people since attackers try to grab you from behind. Hang tight and wait for them to pull you off the ground. When they have pulled you up, throw your head back smacking them in the nose. If you throw your head back hard enough, you can break the nose and run away.

The best self-defense method is training. Find someone to teach you and then practice the moves. This way you will be ready if and when you are ever attacked.

The most fearful situation that any sane person will not pray to face is coming closer to a knife wielding attacker. This is a situation that is very dangerous and the feelings of being stabbed can generate enough fear in some people. The irony of it is that, we have series of training on self defense against knife attack, but experts have found out that most of the tricks are simply useless against a desperate knife attacker.

What you need to know is that, some confirmed knives attackers are known to have concealed the crude weapons from their victims. Therefore, if you discover that somebody is coming towards you with hands positioned behind his back, the first thing you need to do is to know that what the person is hiding from you. If it happens to be a knife, your fist reaction is to back up and scream at the top of your voice especially if the person is among a very large crowd.

Moreover, you can use your lower hand to block the attackers arm before bring the hidden knife from the back. This will give you enough time to attract attention. If the attacker is still far from you, just cross to the other side of the road and run for dear life. An average knife attacker is known to be mentally imbalanced, and as such they are less concerned about the implications of attacking somebody with a knife.

Knife attackers are violent killers, therefore you should not overestimate your defence skills, and you can as well rely on expert advice of run for your dear life because knife attacker has been known be the most dangerous of all killers.

People often ask me, “What are the best self defense moves I can learn to defend myself?” To be honest, there’s really no simple answer to this. What I usually tell them is that the technique that works in their situation is the best one. No two situations are alike. There is no sure-fire technique to learn to use for all situations. You need to be able to clearly judge each situation and adjust your technique accordingly. That being said, there are a couple techniques that stand out.

One of the best ones available, and almost everyone knows it, is a simple kick to the groin. Every self-defense class teaches it, and there’s a reason. If you kick a male in the groin, he’s going to go down, and not just for a couple seconds. This will give you plenty of time to run and escape because he will be on the ground for couple of minutes.

Other popular techniques are things such as an eye jab. Eye jabs are great, because for one, it’s unexpected, 2) it’s a very fast attack, and 3) you’re hitting a very soft, critical, delicate target with a very hard target, the tip of your fingertips. Our main purpose with the eye jab is not to blind the attacker, however. It just blurs their vision and causes the eyes to water, and distracts them for a couple seconds. And that’s all you need to get away. It only takes a few seconds to hit them in eye, and once you do this just follow up with maybe giving them a quick elbow or knee to the head, and then make your escape.

Another great technique is a slap to the face. A lot of people don’t know about this one because they like to throw their punches, but really, a slap to the face can be very effective. This slap is very unlike the typical slap girls use in that you are going to be pretending to drive a nail through a board with your hands. You want to keep that in mind when doing a slap. A slap to the ear can really hurt someone, and give you plenty of time to follow up with a move. It will be a while before they recover because they will be very disoriented and dizzy.

These are a few of the most useful self-defense techniques out there, but none will work in every possibly situation. You will need to adapt to any situation that comes your way, so you need to have a variety of techniques in your arsenal.

Bad Economy = More Crime! Might be Time to Get a Pepper Spray!

With this terrible economy that we are currently faced with, making life difficult for us all, there are even more purse and wallet snatchers , which makes our lives even more complicated. Today, self defense items are a good idea. Many folks around the USA are choosing to carry a non-lethal self defense item such as a pepper spray! Even if they never need to use the pepper spray, they like the “peace of mind” that they get from carrying it, and at least they have it with them, “just in case!”

Even if you live in a safe town or area, you just never know what might happen! If you go out in public, you should always lock you car door while driving, as well as, when you get to a place of business, where you will park the car, even if only for “one minute.” In fact, you should get into the habit of always locking your car from now on, if you don’t already, even when it is parked in your own driveway. It also couldn’t hurt to keep a pepper spray in the car, and you should always be prepared, just in case somebody tries to mess with you!

After nightfall, when you are leaving a store, school, business, or house of worship, or even in your own neighborhood while walking the dog, it is a good idea to walk at a brisk pace, stay in the well lighted areas, and avoid any areas that are dark, even with a pepper spray in your pocket. The places where potential attackers could be looming should always be avoided, and even if they only wanted to steal your money, and not hurt you, it is still traumatizing to get robbed!

We all have heard it said that if a person ever needs help, that instead of shouting, “Help me, help me,” it is actually better to yell, “Fire! Fire!” For some strange reason, people are more likely to help in the case of fire, but the word “help,” scares some folks away. A loud and strong battery-operated electronic whistle can also effectively attract help in the same way. Perhaps you need one of those as well!

Whenever you need to visit an ATM, why not do so during the day while the sun is shining? Why take the chance, after dark, considering the way that things are today? Maybe you don’t even have to visit an ATM anymore; you can actually go into the bank during business hours. This common sense move will help you to stay away from potential problems, and using ATMs after dark is certainly not a good idea for anyone, at least not anymore. Whether day or night, be sure to carry your pepper spray everywhere you go! If you don’t yet have one, then you should visit www.bsecuretoday.com where they have the greatest selection and prices on pepper sprays and anything else you need to protect yourself!

Being strong and confident enough can be equal to a weapon for you as a self defense against potential attackers out there. A criminal usually targets weak victim, people who don’t show confidence in themselves or act already scared. Criminals usually do not like challenges and that’s why they will often attack a potentially vulnerable person. And if you aren’t one of them -you can be saved from being attacked by such lazy criminals who only thrive to attack vulnerable and weak people.

Walking with confidence and with a purposeful facial expression can really be a life saver. Let the criminal know that you are awfully confident and busy person heading towards a definition destination unlike a person who is acting as if he is new to the town and is nervous and afraid.

Read faces of people, keep a fair distance from those you think might be a bully or a potential criminal. Even if you are eventually or accidentally nearby them, alert yourself and prepare for a quick run upon any sort of suspicious signal from that person. Once found a suspicious looking guy, don’t keep your eyes away from him as if you’ve just got afraid of him -rather give him a neat little stare in a unique gesture as if you are alert and are not afraid and will response if that person try to act smart with you.

If you are being watched and approached, at first warn them politely that you mean business and you don’t want him come any closer to you. And if they don’t pay attention to it -start running as fast as you can and yell or scream out loud for help i necessary.

These small tips can really be a life saver against a potential criminal.

There are many effects of pepper spray you might consider if you are thinking about using this type of self defense option. Some of the things to think about are that it is one of the most effective deterrents, it works longer than a taser or stun gun, it will cause coughing and choking, and it burns really bad.

Pepper spray is one of the most effective, least expensive, deterrents for self defense you can purchase and use for personal protection. It is very easy to use and there is no guessing. All you have to do is aim and spray at the face of your attacker. Many lives have been saved by the use of pepper spray and yours could be next.

When you use pepper spray you are using something that works even more effective than stun guns and tasers. Stun guns work by disabling the nervous and the muscular system but only for a few moments. Pepper spray works by causing pain, temporary blindness, and choking for up to 30 minutes. This is the longest effect that this self defense option works and will give you the most time to get away from your attacker.

Pepper spray is made with cayenne pepper and runs so hot it is unbearable to touch on the skin and to breath in the mouth. The reason you aim for the person’s face is because when they get just a little bit of the pepper spray in their mouth, nasal passage, and airways it will burn so bad and put them on the floor. You don’t have to worry about them chasing you because the person will think they are dying.

Pepper spray also effects an attacker’s vision. The eyelids and the skin around the eyes will be swollen and puffy. The person will not be able to see out of their eyes because the pepper will cause the eyes to shut down in protecting themselves naturally. The person will not be blind forever but it will give you the best chance to run from the attacker and they will not see which way you went so they cannot follow you.

Pepper spray causes many different effects that people will suffer when they experience it touching their skin and ingesting it into their body. All side effects caused by the spray are not permanent and only last for a few hours. Some effects clear up within 30 minutes. No one has died from pepper spray and no one will die from you blasting them in the face.

Pepper spray has many different effects. If you are looking for an option for self defense to carry with you for personal protection then you should seriously consider a canister of pepper spray. This will disable the assailant or person trying to harm you and give you the opportunity to be able to get away, safely.

Poor economic conditions and job loss boosts up the status of crime. Young people are more frustrated and turn into robberies to live luxuriously. These invaders are now aiming senior citizens especially home alone old people. The reports of violence towards older people are shocking – even overwhelming. Often these age groups are physically weaker; this attracts the strangers to attack them.

Self defense technique can use older people in different ways. Most of them have stick; they can use this stick as a strongest weapon. They should always be aware about the potential dangers. Try to avoid walking in the park alone, instead try to create a group for jogging. If you face an attack keep targeting attacker’s vulnerable places like nose, eyes, elbows etc. The sudden reaction from your side may revert back his attention. The online self defense lessons will help you to learn these methods easily.

Carrying safety alarms and mobile phones may aid the old people to contact with their relatives and police. Pepper spray, perfumes, knifes pins etc can use effectively. Avoid opening door towards strangers is one of the best way to avoid crime. Always keep a whistle and a flashlight on your key chain.

Do not try to blow for taking any thing in front of any strangers. Older people can use anything in their bag like-pen, vegetables, umbrella etc as a self defense tool in emergency situations. Learning martial art for the senior citizens is a wise option for many of them. Many municipalities are conducting training sessions on self defense to the senior citizens. Since seniors are vigilant against the attacks; the crime rate against senior citizens for the past few years shows a decreasing tendency.
