Thus, knowing how and where to find these Public Police Reports must be of high priority and importance. Without any doubts, your local police departments have these records on files.

Have you ever asked yourself if there is still a safe place to live with during this time? The Public Police Records and other forms of media such as newspapers and the radio usually contain reports on various crimes that occurred in several locations worldwide. Isn’t that a bothering situation? Those crimes should somehow affect you because they might eventually destroy the peaceful life that you have built for yourself and your family.
Despite all these crimes, you still have a way out. How? Perform your own Police Records Search like what other people are already doing. Since you do different things everyday and you also go to different places, it is always possible for you to encounter new faces and names on your way. The people you meet vary in different ways. Others may look good while others don’t. However, you have to bear in mind that it’s not the look that will identify if a person is safe to be with or not. That’s why it is advisable that you search for those available police records so that you will know what’s behind those faces and names.
A police record is not just an ordinary record. It is an official record that is created by a police officer for every interaction that happened between a person and the police. That is, any interaction. Such events as domestic violence, traffic accidents, thefts, fraud, assaults, burglaries, stalking, etc. may be included in this kind of file. Oftentimes, this document reveals important information such as the full names, address, phone number, date of birth, and other identifying information of the persons who are involved as well as the witnesses. Hence, a police record will tell you things that you need to know about the person that you’re investigating.
These police records are often disclose for the service of the public. For as long as you adhere to the policies and procedures that are imposed by the state, these Public Police Records are surely obtainable. The information that you will get from those police departments is in fact, costless. However, some may require a small administrative fee to be paid prior to providing the said information. On the other hand, it should not be ignored that the state has the right to prevent anyone from accessing or using a police report for the purpose of preserving the sensitivity of information that is contained in the file for the involved person’s privacy.
A parent does not put his child on the danger-zone. Likewise, a friend does not want that something wrong will happen to his friend or a loved one. That is why to avoid any of these things, it is important that you search on those accessible Public Police Reports and that you should have an idea on where and how to acquire them. One way to do this is through the service of your local police offices where these documents are surely stored. Another helpful way is to make use of an online computer where those commercial record providers who can provide you with such a great kind of service can be found.
In short, in the midst of all these crimes that are going on, you’re not left with no options yet. You can still secure yourself and your family too. In order to do that, you must pick up only the best and trusted provider that will provide you with what you need and you can do that by reading those various review sites which will tell you everything about those record providers.

Being accused of spousal abuse is a very serious matter. A husband or wife who has been arrested for spousal abuse not only faces the possibility of conviction, but also the chance of having his or her personal and professional reputation forever tarnished by criminal charges. A person accused of domestic violence may be found guilty in the eyes of the public opinion long before the court reaches a verdict. It is therefore important to seek sound legal counsel as soon as possible to help you defend your life and your reputation against the criminal charges you face.

Types of Offenses

If you have been arrested or criminally charged for acts of spousal abuse, you may be facing the following charges in court:

- Assault: The act of intending, threatening, or suggesting an intent to cause harm to another person, even if physical contact is never made.

- Battery: Causing or intending to cause bodily injury to a person by making violent physical contact with the victim.

- Sexual Assault: Making a sexual advance to cause discomfort or embarrassment to the victim.

- Rape: Forcing unwanted sexual activity on a victim through threats or force.

- Aggravated Assault: Assault committed with a deadly weapon.

- Aggravated Battery: Battery committed with a deadly weapon.

Any of these charges may be included in a spousal abuse case, depending on the severity of the domestic violence reported. You may face one count or multiple charges in a domestic abuse case, which can range from a high level misdemeanor to a severe felony. If you are convicted of any of the above crimes, you may sentenced with a jail or prison sentence, heavy fines, probation, and/or other forms of punishment.

Defending Your Case

No matter what crime you have been charged with, it is important to know that in a criminal court, you remain innocent until proven guilty. An experienced criminal defense lawyer can help you fight your criminal charges and will work to defend you against an aggressive prosecution. You have the unalienable right to a fair trial, and a criminal lawyer can provide sound legal advice throughout your case and ensure that your legal rights are upheld.

Self-defense is very important for you women out there, but it is even more important for you to be able to assess the risk of a situation. Below is a general women’s risk assessment guide:

The most important risk assessment tip is you need to listen to your instincts. Many people have instincts that warn them when they are in a dangerous situation. Pay attention to physical sensations that you associate with a warning and use that when you get into a potentially dangerous situation.

Everyone has boundaries that no one should be able to cross. Boundary violations can occur though, and they will usually start out small, such as tests where the person will cross your boundary, see if you notice it, display any discomfort, and yet say or do nothing. These tests can take seconds or minutes if a stranger is assaulting you or can be built up over months or years in the case of domestic violence. Some boundary violations can be verbal, such as name-calling and threatening, visual, such as staring or photography, and also physical.

Is someone trying to manipulate you or use ploys on you? Assailants will try to get you to do something even though you doubt their motives. They will insist you owe them something or try and distract. They will stretch the truth or flat out lie. If someone makes your instincts tingle then you need to get away from them.

Assailants will try to get you isolated from everyone else so they are able to do what they want without being caught. All an assailant needs is a compliant victim and an opportunity that they can strike. Boundary violations and ploys work to get the victim to comply with them, and then isolation gives them the opportunity.

The majority of you probably are thinking that isolation is only physical isolation, but you are also able to be isolated financially and socially. Social isolation can occur when you are in a crowd but do not know anyone or abusive relationships where the abuser makes you lose contact with your family and friends. Financial isolation can occur when the abuser controls all the money in the house and you do not have the money to leave.

It is very important that you trust your instincts, set boundaries that you let no one cross, avoid manipulations and ploys, and do not get isolated with people you do not trust. I hope this risk assessment guide helps you to stay safe.

Getting help in the state of California

The state of California issues emergency domestic violence restraining orders to protect families from physical violence and other abuse. It is unlawful for any adult family member to subject their children, spouse, or other family members to any kind of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse.

Victims of abuse can use a restraining order to receive legal protection from any abusive family member:

Mother or father
Stepparents
Aunts and uncles
Grandparents
Siblings

These protective orders can also protect people from people to whom they are not related, like a boyfriend, girlfriend, or the domestic partner of their mother, father, or other relatives.

The courts act quickly to institute the first restraining order on a temporary basis. A person must appear in court when the temporary order expires and present evidence of the abuse to be issued an additional protective order. These restraining orders can be instituted for up to 5 years at a time.

Confronting your abuser

It can be hard for many people to stand up and break the cycle of abuse they have been experiencing. Abuse is a terrifying situation for the victims and the thought of confronting an abuser takes a serious amount of inner strength and confidence.

Seeking a domestic violence restraining order in California is a method of confronting your abuser while being protected by the law. The process takes place in a court of law and the accused is legally prohibited from speaking to the victim during the proceedings.

There are no court fees associated with the process. Obtaining the initial restraining order involves submitting evidence of the abusive situation to a judge and he or she will make a decision within one day’s time. A lawyer can prepare your case for the hearing and help ensure your physical safety and legal interests are preserved before, during, and after the hearing.

GLASS FAMILY LAW represents victims of abusive circumstances while filing for restraining orders and settling larger family law disputes. Our firm is located in Beverly Hills and serves the greater Los Angeles community.

Domestic violence, in spite of the progress made by the human mind, is a harsh reality that more often than not is kept under wraps. It can be recognized from a pattern of dominating and aggressive behavior demonstrated by an adult towards another.

In the United States alone, as many as 4 million women are known to suffer each year from violence in a relationship. While women are majority of the recipients of abuse in a relationship, homosexuals, bisexuals, transgender individuals and at times even men are known to face similar abuse.

The numbers are staggering, but the scars left from such abuse are horrifying to say the least. The remnants of such behavior could leave scars that may be sexual, physical, psychological or emotional in nature and could also involve financial manipulation.

So far, women’s groups have been the primary protectors of those who are suffering or are facing domestic violence. This is thankfully changing now, thanks to the intervention from religious organizations and medical professionals.

Cosmetic surgery specialists have been especially forward in helping women who have faced physical violence at the hands of their mates. Using reconstructive plastic surgery, patients have found succor for their damaged facial tissues and nerves, burns scars on the body and similar ravages.

If you have been at the receiving end of domestic violence, you can come to the Plastic Surgery Institute of California for help and healing. We perform reconstructive eyelid surgery and face surgery and can help you win back your personal integrity and self-worth.

Below are some statistics that are a must for you to know as a woman or someone that cares for a woman.

• Every two minutes, some woman, some place within the United States is being raped. That is 30 women every hour!

• Every year, over one million women suffer some form of abuse by their partner. While that abuse is not fatal, they often are repeatedly abused.

• For any twelve month span, it is shown that an average of four million women are abused in seriously abusing fashions, many more do unreported and unable to be counted.

• Nearly half of all women will face some form of physical abuse in their lifetimes. Many will face violent physical attacks. Many will die from the injuries inflicted on them during these attacks.

All of this should showcase the importance of having a well thought out plan and strategy for defending yourself in any given situation. It is a very large problem throughout much of the United States and as such should be something that you strive to protect yourself from.

Every woman that is attacked in some fashion, whether as a result of domestic violence or the result of a random attack will tell you the same sad story. They never thought that this could happen to them. It can and it did. Most importantly, it can also happen to you. Prepare for the worst so that you can protect yourself from any situation that may arise. You will find that this is the very best method of surviving an attack on you, from anyone. Seek out the help and the guidance you need because you deserve it and you need it to see many more tomorrows.

For those that believe that learning self defense is not something that is necessary, think about. Think about two of your closest female friends. Out of the three of you, it is likely that one of you will be assaulted violently and sexually at some point in your life. The odds are stacked against you and for that; you need a self defense education to stack the odds in your favour.

If you are a human resources, risk management, or crisis management director concerned about workplace violence, let me ask you a question:

Why do you think violent people lash out when and where they do?

Have you ever thought about that?

Have you ever wondered why the people who commit violent acts…

Choose the victims they do?
Act out when they do? Or…
Choose the location they do?

There are three factors which contribute to a workplace violence act of aggression. Regardless of whether we’re talking about an act of violence in the workplace, domestic violence, or any other assault, the three factors are:

The assailant’s personality type and predisposition toward violence
Contributing factors leading up to the act itself and…
Environmental factors which cause the person to see the area as “safe” for him or her to commit their act.

While the first factor – the personal factor – is not always a given, as in the case of medical patients who lash out as a result of pain, grief, or medications, there are traits and characteristics that have been identified to allow human resource personnel to weed out possible threats during the hiring process.

Contributing factors are those things which do just that, contribute to the assailant reaching a point and decision where he or she chooses to attack. These factors could be anything from a trigger word, glance, or situation which routinely and habitually set this person off, or it could be days, weeks, months, or years of pent up aggression that simply reaches a boiling point.

And finally, the environmental factor refers to your workplace and the atmosphere, stress-inducers, and other factors which create a certain “feel.” Certain environments lead themselves easily to violence, while others subconsciously tell the attacker that his or her efforts would be wasted before they ever got started.

To understand this last factor better, ask yourself this:

“When was the last time you heard of a police officer, soldier, or security professional attacking another police officer, solider, or security professional?”

The answer, at least here in the West is…

Almost never.

And the reason for that is the fact that the environment – the fact that the intended targets are able and willing to defend themselves, virtually negates the possibility of an attack before one even gets started.

Something for you to think about when someone tries to imply that training employees to be able to defend themselves against a workplace violence attack only creates a greater potential for trouble.

Just not so.

Does your company have a solid and complete workplace violence training program? Do you and your workers know what to do should the unthinkable happen and you come face-to-face with violence in the workplace? Or are you betting the lives and safety of everyone involved that there isn’t someone right now, inside or outside your company, planning an attack? Get the facts and stop making safety decisions based on denial, apathy, or ignorance.

United States government statistics revealed the most grueling picture: one in every four women becoming target of domestic violence and approximately 1.3 million women have been physically assaulted by her intimate partner. But women in rural areas facing sexual assault, domestic or other kinds of violence are more vulnerable than their counterparts in cities.

Rural women have to face many hurdles while receiving assistance; even service providers have to face barriers in the form of geographic location, social and cultural pressures, economic structures and absence of available resources. To overcome these hurdles and make the waves for the service providers to address the grievances of the victim rural women, Federal government established the Rural Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Assistance Program popularly known as Rural Program in 1994.

Its scope was expanded under Violence Against Women Act of 2005 (VAWA 2005) and included stalking and sexual assault under its preview and revised the criteria of eligibility as well as the statutory purpose areas under which programs must be executed.

The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) administers this grant and has currently 18 grant programs at its anvil, which are being executed under the authorization of Violence Against Women Act of 1994 and successive legislation. These grant programs have been constituted with the purpose to strengthen capacity and capability of the nation to reduce above said domestic turmoil by empowering services to victims and detaining culprits accountable for their misdeeds.

Collaboration is encouraged under this program between advocates of victims, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, personnel of pre-trial service, judges, probation and parole officers and leaders of faith- and/or community-based organizations to tackle the problems of violence and it is also being assured that safety of victim is foremost while administering services to victims and their children. It is also mandatory for the Rural Program to keep aside about 25 to 40 percent of funds for those projects that consciously address sexual assault.

The applicants eligible for such grant programs are States, local governments, Indian tribes, private or public nonprofit entities inclusive of nonprofit tribal organizations and faith-based or community organizations.

Another such grant program is S T O P Violence Against Women Formula Grants. The grant is bestowed to the states and territories to increase the powers of the criminal justice system’s response to violence against women and to give all support and increase services for the victims.
