Self defense training is very essential for everyone and the use of self defense weapons is also an essential part of training. Self defense weapons are divided into lethal, semi lethal and lethal weapons. The semi lethal and non lethal weapons can be used in any kind of dangerous situations. These include, pepper spray, pocket knife and so on. But lethal weapon has some restrictions because they require some training on how to manage them effectively. You will also need a license before carrying any lethal weapon; otherwise it is a criminal act.

Lethal weapon is considered deadly because it can kill the opponent. Some examples of lethal weapons are guns and hand guns. These are weapons you cannot find easily in the open market, you will need a special permit with a lot of screening before you can be allowed to use or sell it. If you are succeeded in buying one, a lot time is also needed before you can master its use perfectly because they are considered lethal and deadly.

It is also necessary that you know how and where to fire the gun and license is also required before you can use it for anything because you must not be caught with an unlicensed gun, otherwise you will face the long arm of the law. However, you have got to know that your gun can also be used against you especially if your assailant laid hand on it, he might like to kill you with it. This why an adequate training and practices is needed before it can be used as an instrument for self defense.

We all know about the global recession of the world, which is causing a lot of problem for the whole world. Unemployment is considered as one of the major consequence of this recession that ultimately results in increase in the number of crimes like robbery, rape, kidnapping and many other street crimes. In such a problematic situation, every individual must be aware of the self-defense techniques in order to secure himself. The online self defense methods are easily available for all. Some most effective self-defensive techniques are explained as below:

1. Stamp heavily on the foot:

This is the easiest technique that everyone can use easily in case if opponent is trying to grasp you. If you stamp on the foot of opponent, it will generate much time for you to escape but the basic drawback of this techniques is that it is not as effective as others techniques are.

2. Smack on ear:

Ears are considered as a sensitive part of a human body. So smacking at the ear causes intense pain or even it can cause serious damage to the eardrum. This self-defensive technique is mostly preferred by the experts.

3. Kick at knees:

This is also an effective self-defense technique because it causes much pain to the attacker as well as it will resist him/her in following you.

4. Punch at solar plexus:

Solar plexus is the sensitive area of a human’s body that is just above to the stomach. Punching at the attacker’s solar plexus will make it difficult for him to breath.

5. Do a combo:

“Do a combo” mean to hit the attacker with two, three or more attacks collectively one after the other. This technique will cause him/her much damage and your chances to escape will be enhanced.

Who are likely targets for criminals? You would be correct, to some extent, if you answered “everyone.” There is no one person that is immune from crime, but there are segments of our society who stand a greater chance of a run in with a criminal or criminal act, than some others.

These more likely segments of our society, are a group that would benefit most by being familiar with ways to avoid being crime’s targets. It is highly recommended that this group [as should all] become familiar with crime through crime reports and follow the recommendations contained therein.

Obtaining some personal self-defense devices and learning how to use this technology is likewise, recommended.

“Personal defense technology? Sounds expensive. Is it?,” you ask. No, it is’nt in most cases.

To properly equip oneself with the necessary personal defense technology does not have to cost you an arm and a leg.

Well, who are the people that make up this segment of our population and why are they more vulnerable?

They are more likely to be a victim of crime for various reasons including there age, their occupation, the time of day they work, their daily routines [e.g. doing things at the same time, in the same place, in the same way] and the areas in which they live. This list is not inclusive and there are plenty of combinations of scenarios that would also make a person more vulnerable to crime.

Here is a short list of examples of groups of people and their occupations that would benefit from modern personal self-defense technology:

Senior citizens

Night Shift Workers

Taxi drivers

Disabled persons

Delivery drivers

Babysitters

Postal employees

Bar maids

Joggers

Tourist

Retail clerks

Students

Health workers

The above list is far from exhaustive. Why these certain groups are included in the list should be obvious to anyone giving it some thought.

It would be wise for our communities to get the word out to these segments of the population about their increased risk at being victims of crime and the availability of personal defense technology. But, judging on past experience, we know that is not always going to be the case.

It is for this reason that we also recommend everyone to get involved on a voluntary basis to support your local police and sheriff’s office and neighborhood watch programs.

It is recommended for every citizen to educate themselves and others about the ins and outs of crime and how to keep the public from becoming victims and not becoming statistics in a crime report.

A young woman after a long, hard day at work is on the way to her car in the parking garage of a big city. With the economy down and personal assaults on the increase, she knows that doing this so late at night can sometimes be a very dangerous act. Have you done this yourself without thinking or without taking precautions? How about your spouse, fiancée, daughter, mother, or female friend? Has anyone you know experienced a bad outcome in this kind of situation? Were they assaulted, injured, raped, or even murdered? Examples of personal attacks towards the public are actually on the increase. If this is true, and situations like this in modern day society are hard to avoid, how can a person take precautions without an armed escort?

Being an authority and an expert on self-defense and martial arts, I know that you don’t have to be a martial arts expert in order to be prepared in dealing with such situations. A little knowledge goes a long way, but it really has to be the right knowledge. What kind of knowledge am I talking about? In a phrase, consider “Pressure Point Defense”.

“Pressure Point Defense” can be used to defend yourself in almost any situation. It is powerful, easy to apply, and extremely effective. This kind of defense can be applied by the young, the old, the small, and the out-of-shape. In fact, I have even trained others with this knowledge to individuals in wheelchairs with Multiple Sclerosis, commonly known as MS. Unfortunately, most of the public has little knowledge, if any, of this very special and secretive way of defending yourself.

Why is that? “Pressure Point Defense”, or commonly known as pressure point fighting, was originally categorized in the Orient as “advanced training” - in Japanese it is known as Okudan. This knowledge was reserved only for Martial Arts Masters, and was NEVER to be released to the public. This meant that even martial arts Black Belts of low rank and those students who have not yet achieved Black Belt did not know or had not been introduced to this information due to its dangerous and powerful nature. How powerful? To the extreme, pressure point application cannot only lead to excruciating pain, but can also lead to unconsciousness and even death. It is not an outrageous claim because I have seen and experienced the result of this extremely, powerful training, and it is only until recently that this training is now being introduced to a select few in this country. It should also be noted that these same “pressure points” are used and manipulated by those who practice Oriental medicine in the form of Acupuncture and Acupressure, but these points are not pressed or hit to inflict pain as in self-defense.

In summary, “Pressure Point Defense” is a way of secretively arming yourself with knowledge that can give you an unfair advantage against any attacker – regardless of who you are. This knowledge can be learned by anyone with only a minimum amount of knowledge and training. It is truly a way to “fight without fighting”! Until next time…

Master “Dutch” Hinkle has an extensive martial arts background that spans over forty years and includes training in over two dozen different martial arts in the U.S., Europe, and the Orient. He holds a sixth-degree black belt (Master Rank) in Te-ashi-ryu Ju-jitsu, a third-degree black belt in Kodokan Judo, and numerous other black belts in Karate-jitsu, Aiki-jitsu, pressure point fighting, Japanese stick fighting, and the Samurai sword.

How important is your personal safety on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being “Not Very Important” and 5 being “Extremely Important”. This is the question I posed to a group of college aged kids that I met with today. Guess what, everyone in the room said that their personal well being was “Extremely Important”. I responded, Then why don’t you start acting like it!

The fact is that most of us claim that personal safety, home security and self defense are extremely important, yet we do nothing to help ourselves. If I can convince you to do one thing today, it would be to take a proactive approach to personal safety.

Get yourself a good self defense pepper spray product. Learn how to use it and what to expect when you do. Practice until your comfortable. Carry it with you wherever you go and make sure it is highly accessible. By doing this you just improved your chances of surviving an attack.

I realize that the “perfect self defense product” is not the same for everyone. So what works for me may not be your cup of tea and that’s fine because you will find the product that works best for you. Stun guns have become extremely popular among civilians. Technology enhancements have reduced costs while increasing dependability. The newest stun guns sport very high voltage and low amperage, coming into contact with a stun gun will make an attacker “see stars”.

If your budget allows the C2 Taser is an excellent self defense weapon. Items such as steel batons, kubotans, and personal alarms all make great self defense products. I encourage you to research the products and determine what works best for you. Once you determine the best weapon(s) for you, make a commitment to learn how to use it. That means practicing with whatever product(s) you choose. No matter what, I hope you will take action today.

Lots of kids are afraid to go to school because of the bullies, and even apart from school or college life bullies can be everywhere and ever ready to threat you and possibly harm you leading you lying on the ground helpless. In this article we will discuss some safety measurements that you can take to prevent yourself from being the victim of bullies either at school or anywhere else.

The best thing to do when faced by a bully or a bunch of bullies is to simply ignore them and walk away. Now it doesn’t mean that you are a coward but bullies actually want you to react towards their threat of verbal assaults. If you keep your head cool and ignore their taunts they most probably won’t bother you again (or at least will eventually stop bullying you).

DO NOT FIGHT BACK THE BULLIES even if you are stronger than him or them or even if you know you can handle them. Attacking the bullies is only permissible if your other loved ones are also severe danger and you can’t call the 911 at that moment and might lose your loved one. Other than this situation do not ever try to combat the bullies as it will surely make the things go worst. Try to be confident as much as possible (and if you are a kid) act mature even if you are not then still fake it. Be confident about yourself but not overconfident.

Usually your parents and other folks are unaware of the bullies you face frequently, you should inform your parents and other guardians about the bullies so that they can protect you and bullies will eventually stop bullying you.

Whether you are comfortable with someone you have know for a while, or someone comes to visit you at your workplace because they are trying to get to know you better, you must stay aware! Remember this, as comfort level goes up, awareness goes down. We can not let that be the case folks!

The first secret to protecting yourself is to be an inconvenient target to an attacker. Of course, this means exercising street smarts, a subject we will cover soon. But sometimes street smarts are not enough. Sometimes, like it or not, you have no choice but to protect yourself. In such a situation, you must become an inconvenient target. Attackers look for easy prey. You want to be a challenge. Therefore, if somebody approaches you in a way that seems strange, you MUST be prepared to make a scene and to shock and distract your attacker. Making a scene is not hard. If someone is attacking you, you need to react quickly. You have no time to worry about how you look or whether you are making a fool out of yourself. You must be ready to scream, scratch, bite, kick, spit, and do whatever else is required to make a scene. So, when someone approaches you and seems likely to attack: 1. Take a step back and put your hands up, palms out (in the “Stop” position). This is a non-aggressive but effective defensive position.

2. Yell “Stop!” and keep yelling as long as it takes to get attention. Kids should be trained to yell a long time, starting with, “Get away from me. I don’t know you and you are not my parent. Get the heck away from me….”

3. If the attacker grabs you, shock him with a clap on the ears, scratch in the eyes, poke in the throat, toe/knee in the groin, or anything else you can do to hit them in their vulnerable areas.

4. NEVER stop struggling. It only gets harder as time passes. Keep yelling and fighting and try to get attention. If you get even a split second of time, run as fast as you can to get somewhere safer.

Bottom line: Forget what you have learned about good manners when you are attacked.

This information is too important to keep to yourself. Please absorb this material and pass it on.

Batons are perhaps the most effective tools of self defense. Better even than stun guns or pepper sprays. Batons are like short fat sticks and come in a variety of types. The best ones are the foldable batons – popularly known as the telescopic batons. The good part is that when folded, it can be put in your purse. The minimum length is just 6 inches – shorter than you must have imagined!

Batons are especially a good weapon for self defense for women. More so, if she has to travel a lot and travels to places which have a potential risk factor. If she senses that nay physical harm could come to her, she can easily use a baton for acts of self defense. If you’re worrying about the weight, there is actually no reasons to worry about it since these usually come in lightweights. Of course, the batons used by the police are a little on the heavier side.

Let us look at some popular available options.

•Stun Batons: What makes it special is the ability to produce and shock your attackers with almost 800,000 volts! Fear not, because this will not make you a murderer because the amperage is very low. If it would have been high, there would have been a chance of turning your attacker(s) into charcoal! These also come in variable sizes (standard sizes) and can be telescopic too.

•Pepper Mace Batons: This is the handiest of the self defense weapons that are in use these days. They are so small that they can be carried in your shirt pocket as well as your purse. The strongest of the pepper mace baton comes as an aluminum alloy and has a special in-built compartment for storing the pepper mace. Apart from being used as a stout stick, the pepper spray makes it an effective immobilizer weapon. Not only will the blow be solid but the pepper spray can make the attacker go tears!

•Steel Baton: The best and the strongest of the impact batons are the steel batons. They can crack open the skull of your attackers! They are lightweight and extremely strong. The steel baton has been given the telescopic form to make it more portable and lightweight. Combinations are being tried out for combining the pepper spray with the steel baton but purists argue that this weapon should be let as it is.

When it comes to defending yourself from an attacker or a mob, there is no ethics and morality. All you need to do is to act in self defense. Carrying such batons will not only give you mental strength but can help you travel fearlessly and confidently. Batons for protecting yourself are a must have tool for anyone. You should get it now!

An interesting trend has gained traction in the martial arts field. More and more sbeginnerss are relying upon power to perform takedowns, strikes, and to a smaller extent, blocks. This is a misguided approach. It relies on a misunderstanding regarding how these methods developed. Sadly, as problematic as this approach is, its execution seems to give it more credibility ( I may explain this in a moment ).

In this piece, we’ll explore the difference between using muscle and relying upon a well-honed methodology. I will explain when the former works and when it can cause issues. I’ll also explain how relying upon your strength when executing moves hampers your long-term development as a karate skills student. Lastly, we’ll have a look at the biggest limitation of using strength.

Brawn Versus Strategy In Martial Arts

Most self-defense skills students have a tendency to rely on their muscle as a backup option. That is, they will use it to compensate for poor technique. For instance, imagine you are attempting to perform a takedown on your contestant in a tournament. If your execution is defective, and you are unable to take your competitor down, you may naturally use your strength to’force it’ to work. That’s a dangerous precedent to set as it occurs without thinking. Likewise, it reinforces itself as a viable option over a period of time.

Relying on your muscle can work in some circumstances. As an example, if your adversary is smaller or weaker than you, it’ll be comparatively simple to suppress him or her. On the other hand, even a smaller adversary with actual methodology (and a little aggression) can most likely beat you. That makes relying on your muscle dangerous.

Preparing For Failure

One of the most unfortunate results of using strength as a compensatory measure for poor method is that, in doing so, you’ll set yourself up for failure. Here’s why : to use your muscle as leverage against your opponent, your intelligence instinctively causes your body to hold a specific, grounded position. Mostly, that position will restrict the efficacy of whatever move you are making an attempt to perform.

If that move proves ineffectual, you will start to believe that it doesn’t work. Actually, it does work with better strategy. However the seed will have been stitched. You will either retire that move or focus on performing it with more muscle. Your consciousness will never give you the opportunity to perfect your strategy.

The Limitation Of Muscle

Above, we touched on the most important limitation of using strength while performing martial arts : your position. When you prepare to use raw force to strike, block, or take down your opponent, your mind inspires your body to find a base. Your feet will position themselves at shoulder width, you could spontaneously lower into a sophisticated crouch, and your body will flex.

In this position, you’ll lack pliability and fluidity. You’ll also lack striking range because your reach will be limited. These factors will significantly scale back your power ( not the same as strength ) and efficacy. You will be able to perform a takedown if your opponent is positioned properly within your range, but that is a lot to leave to risk.

So, is muscle significant in your martial arts training and competition? Yes, but only in a limited fashion. You could have the strength that a person your size and build would normally possess. However bear in mind that being valuable in the self-defense skills is about achieving mastery of style and technique. That needs flexibleness and range. If you’re only trying to force your moves to work by applying muscle, you will be far less successful.
